Star TV asking a 200% increase for carrying its boquet of channels in Keralavision

Star network which is run by American millionaire Rupert Murdoch is asking for a 200% increase for carrying the Star bouquet of channels from Kerala vision which consist of many small Cable Operators who have come together to form (COA) Cable Operators Association. The basic packs which contain most of the Star channels which are watched by the users are on the basic pack and cost Rs 200-250/- per month. If Murdoch's 200% increase is added it will touch highs of 500-600/- Rs per month.

So the COA instead of buckling under the pressure of Murdoch has turned off all their channels. Due to this subscribers are able to watch television for the base rate but they are not able to watch certain important channels which are present in the Star bouquet like the Asianet channels which is the heart and soul for the Malayali viewers who have grown up watching new movies in these channels during Christmas and New Year. Star Vijay a tamil channel is also missed as a lot of Malayalis watch Tamil channels and Star Vijay being one of the pioneers of Tamil television is missing.

Finally for the younger generation they have switched off all 4 star sports channels along with National Geographic. As far as we know Keralavision are telecasting Star Sports HD1 and Star Sports HD2 in place of Star Sports 1 and Star Sports 2 for those who have HD box but there is no alternative for National Geographic.

We are all hoping that this problem gets resolved at the earliest so that many people who are eager to watch India take on Australia can watch it live on Star Sports and that Murdoch does not go forth with his increase of 200% for channels present in the Star bouquet.
