Madras HC put on hold the digitization deadline of October 31 till November 5 when the next hearing of the petition filed Chennai Metro Cable TV Operators Association (CMCOA)
The petition, noting that repeated requests for extension of the deadline was not acceded to by the Centre, claimed that in Chennai only 1.64 lakh homes had Set Top Boxes (STB) and more than 3 lakh homes would go blank from November 1 if the deadline was not extended. The petition also said that which said there were not enough STBs to be distributed to all households.
Under the Centre's proposal, implementation of Digital Access System (DAS) was to be completed in Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai and Chennai by October 31.
