Digitization on Nov. 1

Update: Madras HC has again extended the date of digitization to Nov 9th 2012 in Chennai

The deadline for the switching of cable TV signals in the 4 metros from Analogue to Digital has been set for midnight Nov.1

From Nov.1 you would need a Set Top Box (STB) to be able to watch TV channels in the 4 metros of New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai. By buying a STB you would be able to have clear picture and good quality sound.

The Digitization deadline was pushed back to Nov.1 from the earlier deadline of June 30. At the moment the Digitization percent in the four metros have gone up to 77%  from the earlier 68% . Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata and Delhi have achieved overall digitization of 96%, 77%, 72% and 65% respectively.

Mamata Banerjee has asked for an extension to the digitization deadline for Kolkata as it is not possible for the cable operators there to meet the STB demands.
